I forget this almost every time I open Charts, I expect that I am able to drag the time series into the calculations, but alas no. It would be great if this was a possibility rather than needing to select from the “add node” selection. Also, the in the menu you get from the “add node” the ordering is not the same as you see on the left side, nor is it alphabetic. When there are only a few like here this is not that much of an issue, but I’ve had Charts where I’ve had up to 100 time series and then this list becomes quite hard to manage.Some kind of standardized ordering would be nice, either alphabetic or the same as in the left panel. When performing calculations in Charts, it is often necessary to implement conditional branching. For example, depending on the value of the reaction temperature, you may want to branch according to whether the plant is operating or stopped, and change the calculation formulas accordingly. If this can be achieved, many of the calculations that were originally managed in Excel can be executed on CDF.
When filtering on tags the filter defaults to an “or” logic, in this example finding all time series matching at least one of the tags selected. It would be great if it was possible to have an “and” option as well, that way showing the time series that match both the selected tags.At least for me, the and logic should have precedence over the or logic. When I select two tags I expect that the result matches both, not at least one. This feature exists in the old data explorer, but not in the new Search. Feature request to show historical credentials of individuals who has run transformation. At Celanese, multiple people are working in the same dev environment. Our transformations are often run by different users and it would be useful to have a log of who has run the transformations at the different times. If an error occurs, it’s easier for us to see who ran the transformation and troubleshoot further.
When performing calculations in Charts, I would like a feature that allows creating custom operators for calculations or special processes that cannot be achieved with the existing functions. For example, I imagine an operator that lets you freely construct processes using Python or similar tools. If this can be realized, I think it could also be adapted for building soft sensors.
Hi, I am new on this community and I was wondering if some members have worked on a solution under CDF to facilitate the corrosion control visualization using structured data from multiple sources, starting with P&ID and PFDs and connect with SAP data and IDMS applications. Idea is to have a living and dynamic repository of information rather than an static hardcopy document.
The 3D view in Industrial Canvas is unusable with default settings, as the render quality is too low and the point size is too large. We need the ability to set a global default setting for the viewer that is usable with our 3D data across the CDF platform. Example from Industrial Canvas-!--scriptorstartfragment-->
Hello,We have several files in data explorer.We use jsonc (doc : JSONC | JSONC Specification) to extend json with comments beside classic json.Unfortunately, preview is not available for this json-ish.Could it be possible to extend previsualisation for jsonc file ? Need the ability to format text in Industrial Canvas. Need to be able to make some text bigger, or bold, or different color or font etc.
There are some instances were we would like to have greater control of deletes such as with functions, and Atlas AI agents. When a user gets access to create or run the access is global, but so is also the access to delete.Sometimes we want to give a user access to create without giving them the access to delete everything that anyone else has worked on.Take functions for example, the access to trigger a function is the “write” capability which is the same capability you need in order to delete, and when this is globally scoped it becomes a security concern. This again limits how we are able to work with these features as we would like to limit the impact an individual can have on parts of CDF they don’t work with. If would be very valuable to be able to create a Charts with timeseries AND calculations via the API. This is relevant when you want to create a large number of charts with calculations, like monitoring all instances of an equipment type, or creating a Charts on-the-fly based on an situation that is detected.Today you can build up a URL where you specify the timeseries and the time range, and when you open the URL you can create a new Charts or add the timeseries to an existing Charts. But I do not see any way of adding a calculation via the API.Also, I cannot find a way of fully create the Charts via the API (I have to open the URL and the select new or add to existing). This prevents us from automatically adding it to a Canvas (Canvas can be fully created via the API)
Hi,I would really like dark mode for all pages in CDF. I saw someone using a browser extension called Dark Reader and CDF looked really really good. I think it would be great to have a toggle in the user settings which defaults to OS but can be hard switched between light and dark modes. Here is an example of how Chrome does it:
The customer (BBraun - @gary.goh@bbraun.com / @mansoor.ahmed@bbraun.com) has requested the ability to stream MP4 files on Data Explorer. Currently, when searching for the file the file is retrieved and on the Preview only a thumbnail is shown. But customer would like to stream the video with Playback.
In present solution of Charts Min/Max values for a time series are set automatically.Suggest to have an “Override” functionality which enable that Min/Max values van be entered manually by end User.In addition it would be beneficial to have a functionality with “Split Charts” i.e. individual charts for different time series can be produced.In Connection with analysis of multiple time series the presernt “Enable Stacking” can not fulfill getting a good overview of time series on “top of each other”.
The customer (BBraun - @gary.goh@bbraun.com) has requested the ability of opening Activities that are residing on Cognite Maintain in CDF Industrial Canvas. The customers’ requirement is to select an Activity and then by clicking the ‘Open in Canvas’ they want to pull that Activity into the Canvases on CDF. It was mentioned that clicking on ‘Open in Canvas’ did not pull Annotations or Activities into the Canvases on CDF.
As a user i would like the system to identify optimization opportunities (such as deferment reduction) for me through defined rules & logic or and aggent! e.g. if a maintenance and a WI job is scheduled for the same prod element within the two weeks this should be highlighted in Maintain to discuss if it can be combined at the same time! Such that I can be notified about these opportunities without having to manually review the system (in the Cognite Maintain App) After a joint discussion with Cognite @Marius Biermann it was suggestet to test with python logic / Atla AI + add activity or optimisation to maintain if a conflict is identified!
A lot of planners want to update their information by shifting activities from e.g CW 5 to 7, so we need to add this info into all of our date selectors!Currently this is now implemented just in the Filter Panel on top! We need to add it alos in the Start & End Date selector, if you create a new activity or is you seach and filter! @Marius Biermann as requested in the last meeting!
Currently when you click on related P&IDs / documents for an existing timeseries in Charts, it pulls up every available document as opposed to being able to filter for just file type, extension or group. It would be very handy to be able to filter the documents - especially when the timeseries is linked to an asset that has hundreds of documents.
I was having some problems with a flow controller.An easy way to see this would be with a frequency analysis. I used numpy (or was it scipy) fft in jupyter.However it would be very easy if we could have a fft function that was easily implementable in charts. Where e.g. we could determine the dominant frequency and/or amplitude for a signal, with the possibility to limit it to a certain range of frequencies.

We have a bit of an issue. We want to use chart to create calculated time series in our production environment, but we do not want to grant the users access to create time series through the API/SDK. The customer (BBraun - @gary.goh@bbraun.com / @mansoor.ahmed@bbraun.com) has requested the ability to support adding MP4 files into Industrial Canvas. Currently, MP4 files are not a supported format to be adding onto Canvases.
When you want to upload a file into Industrial Canvas, the UI offers a drop down list of all readable datasets, when it should list only the datasets in which the user can write to. It is very frustrating for a user to select one of the hundreds datasets that they can read from, but when it comes to save it fails, since they do not have write access. The same applies to the Charts Calculated TimeSeries. In the other hand, Jupyter Notebook only shows datasets which the user can write to, so it should be used as a good example
