Neptune Energy: How the pilot enabled collaborative environment in digital well planning

Hi, my name is Kine Årdal, and I have the privilege of being the Customer success manager for Neptune Energy. I’d like to share experiences from our latest project, and hoping to get feedback and hear about similar experiences from you in the community. The project kicked off in April, as a12-weeks proof of concept, where we enabled a collaborative environment with seamless data flow of key well data for well planning.Current workflow: In the current well planning workflow, it is challenging to share data efficiently and reliably across disciplines and collaboration partners. There is no central storage of drilling and well data ready for a digital way of working, and data is often stored in silos. In addition, the collaboration with vendors often relies on manual exports/imports, sharing data on e-mails/ftp, which leads to e.g. unnecessary time spent waiting for data, duplication of data and a challenge to keep track of versions.Result: In this project, the initial Neptune well data m

Automatic labeling of CDF resources

One thing that would make the finding of the correct data is to label the CDF resources better with labels. https://docs.cognite.com/dev/concepts/resource_types/labels In the contextualization pipeline could things be automatically labeled such as:Document type: P&ID, PDF(Process Flow Diagram), loop diagrams, datasheets, single line. that theses documents are either labeled from the metadata. document ID schema (regex will do it) or from classification algorithm the file, and then gives it a label to the file. that we can see from the label on the resource what it is.The same is for Asset: Is it a Junction box, Transmitter, Skid, Pump, Motor, valve etc etc. Time series: is it a physical measurement, is an inference / calculation / “soft-tag”, is a parameter (like the gain or integration time on PID controller) this could be determent by simple analyzing of the data-point behavior of the time series. cause now when we search for a time series often a time series of a parameter that

Making Point Clouds Smarter

Through 3D scanning technology, Cognite obtains accurate point clouds of large-scale industrial plants with a high level of detail. We're currently using these point clouds for visualization and measurement purposes to provide value to our customers.However, we're still missing a fundamental understanding of the objects located in a three dimensional scene. This understanding starts with semantic segmentation, the process of assigning each a class to each point in a point cloud. In the D-MVP and 3D team, we are currently working hard on solving this with state-of-the-art Deep Learning technology. Our goal is to automatically connect assets in a point cloud directly to Cognite Data Fusion, enabling rapid development of fully contextualized as-built digital twins.In the attached video you'll see what we are aiming to achieve: A point cloud from an industrial site, where all the points are split into different classes. Let me know what you think eller I'd love to hear your thoughts

Adding Timeseries to Chart from a P&ID

Recently the user interface in Charts has changed. I’m not seeing the ability to add timeseries via a PID in a contextualized PDF file. See the image below. Is that capability not available any more?You can see the PDF from the Industrial Canvas UI:

Aquaculture, salmon lice and sustainable treatment methods

Today we had the first Ocean Data Platform webinar ever due to our close partnership with OPS Seafood Norway (“OPS Sjømat”). We have completed the first phase in our collaboration project and will soon launch a “lusedata” (salmon lice analytics) solution in limited availability to be tested with fish health experts. We have got location data and lice statistics from more than 1000 Norwegian aquaculture locations.Here’s a screenshot from the MVP:

3D scanning with robots - what do you want to know?

In heavy asset industries 3D scans are used for applications such as quality inspection, project progress reporting, project planning, evaluating the state of a site ‘as built’ or even evaluating the vegetation around it. The scans span from simple scans performed with a drone in 15 minutes to complex and detailed scans of a plant, taking several weeks to complete. In this 3 part series about 3D scanning with robots we will take you through how to capture, transform, analyze and visualize 3D scan data in order to improve daily operations. Redefining resilience post COVID-19, and why adapting your data strategy matters

In 2020, resiliency has taken on expanded meaning as utility companies worldwide adopt new, evolving strategies for new, evolving norms.Defined as “the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness,” resilience is usually thought of in relation to the operator’s ability to bounce back from severe weather events and unexpected grid outages. Today, this operational pillar remains as important as it ever was. Operational Digital Twin: How data contextualization provides a complete, actionable understanding of industrial operations

A digital twin can be one of the most useful, insightful tools to drive industrial innovation. While the digital twin concept is no longer new, the capacity of the term continues to expand based on technological advancement, particularly in the realm of industrial IoT. Over time, digital twins have morphed to meet the practical needs of users.
