Monitoring/Alerting Functionality for Calculations in Charts

Currently, there is not an option to set an alert job or monitoring job against a calculation only time series data points.

Hei ​@tddahnke you are able to do this today. You would have to first create a calculation , save and schedule it and then you are able to set monitoring jobs on them. They should pop up under the selection option during the creation process.

​@Arun Arunachalam , I believe that this is a similar ask from our client in my region that I’ve shared with you previously. 

​@tddahnke  - feel free to suggest otherwise if this is not consistent to your ask. 

Problem Statement : 
Users typically create new calculated charts based on timeseries data available from say, PI or DCS data that is loaded into CDF as a timeseries. Often that not, some of these calculations are of an interest to be monitored by the SME or a Remote Operations team for early insight to the asset’s health or behavior. 

At the moment, Charts do not allow you to monitor sources from Calculated timeseries profiles as it only list available time series data inside CDF. 

The Ask:
To improve or enable a feature or capability where calculated chart profiles can also be monitored, alerted and notify the user via email when the threshold is specified

Benefits:
Users - ranging from operational SMEs to upper management and key stakeholders - can view monitor critical insights without navigating away from the platform. This enhancement is expected to drive increased monthly active users (MAU) across a broader range of  SME, Data Analyst, Maintenance, Inspection, Remote Operations roles, reinforcing CDF as the go-to interface for decision-making and operational visibility.

Yes, this is correct.

Please consider setting up a monitoring job for the customized time series calculation. It is important to highlight any calculated data that exceeds a defined threshold and trigger an alert accordingly
