Disappearing Jupyter Notebooks in Cognite

I recently encountered an issue with Jupyter notebooks stored. Notebooks that were saved inside a dataset folder within the Notebooks directory vanished after about a week of inactivity. Despite using these notebooks on different days, confirming they were indeed stored in Cognite and not just locally on my browser, they still disappeared. One of the notebooks was uploaded to the platform and not created there, but just to be sure, should uploaded notebooks also be permanently stored there?

Hi,

Thanks for using notebooks and reaching out! It is not a known issue that notebooks can disappear like this. My best guess would be that someone or something (script) has cleaned up and removed the notebook. The notebooks are just regular files in Cognite Data Fusion, and can be removed by anyone who has write access to that data set.

Is there any chance something like this can have happened? They should definitely not disappear without any concrete delete action by a user.

Hi, nothing that i know of, and it happened in two different data sets. I’ll create another notebook and check there after some time to see if it happens again.

Hi, i discovered that the notebooks were still there, but the slow loading issue also apply for the files inside each folder, so i had to wait more several minutes for them to show again. Apologies for any confusion caused by my post.

Great to hear! That the loading sometimes is slow is a known issue, and we have plans to improve this.

Several minutes is very unusual though, so could potentially be really slow network.
