Industrial Canvas - Lock & Unlock / Read Only Public Canvas with Owner

Hi Canvas Team - 

 

Do we have the ability to make a public canvas that has the ability for the owners to lock & unlock it (making it essentially read only)? 

 

Examples of this will include the ability to save a work package, turnaround package, reliability root-cause analysis, etx that others can see in the future however they can’t edit. The owners (people specifically shared) have the ability to unlock and edit it. 

 

 Other scenarios are a read-only version of the canvas for other people that are not the owner.

Today, it is possible for an owner to lock a canvas. What would be the cases when would be needed to unlock the canvas and edit it later on?

The owners of the canvas want to be able to go back and edit things as updates are required.

 

Use cases include canvas documents that are published should become locked (read only files for the rest of the company). Being able to lock the file just ensures others won’t edit it.

 

Being able to unlock it allows them to make any required changes then lock it again.
