Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to update an outdated old 3d model with 360 laser scan images. The original model from when plant was build was corrupted and now we have only parts. I think this would help maintenance enormously, the images are now in faro sphere, which is not the easiest to navigate around

Hi Ramon

Laser scans, 360 images can be processed by CDF. One of the common way is to package them part of e57 point cloud files and upload them to CDF: https://docs.cognite.com/cdf/3d/guides/360images_upload/

From visualisation point of view, replacing CAD model with Point cloud+360 images should work fine. You can create a new model/revision and work on that. But From contextualisation/data linking point of views things will be different. CAD models have structure which point point cloud models lack. So  contextualisation would be different and any data linked would need to be migrated/remapped.
