Customise login-screen

Feedback from customer:

Can “Sign in with project name” be removed? It’s confusing for the users of inField.

Importance: Nice to have.

Context: When logging on inField for offshore workers.

User story: As an offshore user of inField I would like for the app to either:

  1. “Remember” my choice of signing in with Microsoft (see picture).
  2. Or, have “Sign in with project name” removed.

So that the log in process becomes smoother and faster.

Is there a need for “Sign in with project name here”?

Hi @Audun Systad, thanks for reaching out!

Yes, we are aware of the struggles with the current log-in flow and defiantly something we are looking to resolve. Currently, we have some external dependencies to make this happen, but will keep you updated.

Thanks!

An additional aspect to InField Log-in (perhaps the same for other applications), is that if the user has access to other CDF projects where InField has not been configured, the screen simply remains frozen without any message (ref. picture below).

In DevTools, a single request with the following 500 message: {"error":{"code":500,"message":"No configuration for <project>","type":"Internal Server Error"}}. It will be nice to show to the user something like: InField has not been configured for this project, please contact your CDF Administrator.

Hi @hescalona - thanks a lot for this feedback. I totally agree with you, we should provide a much clearer message to the user if this is the case.

Br,

Kristoffer

@Kristoffer Knudsen or @Hunter Beck - I noticed the “admin has not configured” message is now in place - which is great. Is there a general sense on timing or update on when the simplified process will be available?

Thanks for checking in on this one @Marcela Young. This is certainly still a goal, and high on our priority list to improve the InField login flow. The team is currently dependent on some updates we’re making to our Authorization scheme which are planned to be ready in Q2. Happy to provide more updates here once we have more clarity on the concrete timeline on the InField side.
