While visual data is increasingly becoming an important source of information in industry, utilizing this data fully remains a challenge due to lack of a good solution for organizing, contextualizing and analyzing the massive amounts of data. For instance, visual data, such as images and videos, are a central part of inspection and maintenance routines in heavy-asset industry. It provides useful insights about the immediate and historical condition of assets, and therefore required maintenance actions. However, a common challenge is that the collected data is scattered over a number of different legacy systems, severely reducing the use and value of the historical backlog.

In particular, the new and optimized data exploration capabilities of Cognite Data Fusion (CDF) for images and videos enable operators such as data collectors, inspection engineers, and machine learning engineers, to fully utilize the visual data that is now neatly organized and easily searchable within CDF.
