I noticed a few misses / potential improvements in the alerts & monitoring section of Cognite charts - Was wondering if anybody else had similar experiences?

  1. Email alerts always come in UTC (Considering we are based out of India, we may miss important alerts because of this).
  2. Let's say I have an Asset where I have generated a chart (in our case a particular well from a particular lift type showing critical parameters). A filter-based option where I can just switch Wells showing - using the same parameters as tagged before.

@Angad Singh The engineering team is looking into this issue. They will get back to you.

Hi @Mithila Jayalath.

I agree that a templatised asset approach to using charts would be valuable. Allow the user to set the context of a chart to a specified asset, showing the selected asset information/ tags. We have many of the same type of asset (in some cases more than 20), to create a new chart for each and add tags/ logic/ monitoring will be time consuming and less intuitive for the end user

Hi, has there been any movement from the product team on this? Can we expect the feature in future releases?

@Arun Arunachalam will you be able to provide an update on this?

@Angad Singh For the first question, yes, time is sent as server time. it does not take into account the local time. If you would like to have it in local time, please raise a product idea for it.

I’ll follow up with the product team to get an answer for 2nd question and check whether if it’s in the roadmap.

Thanks again for reaching out and appreciate the feedback on this @Angad Singh

1. Regarding the time zone unfortunately this is only UTC at the moment but we understand the point about having it in local time. We are currently waiting on time zone support across CDF apps before we able to do this in Charts but this is in the roadmap for next year.

2. Would the use case here be that you would like to do the same analysis across different wells for example ?

One way we have discussed solving this within the Charts team is by providing the ability to templatize charts and having the ability to switch data model instances for example. However this is currently not on the roadmap for this year and something that will be considered going into next year across both canvas and charts.
