Hi everyone!
Are you aware that you can configure default columns per category, and what filters and properties to display per category in search? Per-project search configuration for categories became available in open beta as part of our June release! 🛠️
End-users want to see the data that's most important to them, presented in a way that makes sense instantly. While project Admins have been able to control which data they see using location filters, the ability to configure how that data appears hasn't been possible – until now. This new search configuration capability directly addresses that pain point, empowering the project Admin to curate the search experience, transforming data discovery from a "needle in a haystack" problem into an intuitive and efficient experience.
How can you test it out?
-
Ensure you have the right access capabilities (appconfig:read, appconfig:write, app-scope = Search) for this project Admin feature!
-
Navigate to the Admin workspace > Project settings > Categories.
-
Select Configure > + Add to configure a category or select a category from the list to edit (here you have filter options to filter on relevant Data Model and Location).
-
Note ☝: One configuration per project, e.g you can not have multiple configurations for the same category
-
-
In the Settings panel, select Columns, Filters, or Properties for configuration.
What is available to configure?
-
Define Columns: Choose and order which metadata properties appear as columns in search results for at-a-glance comprehension.
-
Note ☝: for a column configuration to be applied, every user needs to “reset” column selection manually (open column selector in search and select “reset”).
-
-
Configure Filters: Customize the available filters to quickly narrow down datasets using the most relevant criteria for your project.
-
Tailor Properties Card: Control the display of properties within the detailed "Properties" card for individual items, ensuring crucial context is always prominent.
