【Charts】Improve Tag Name Visibility on Charts

Related products:Charts

When you hover your mouse over a chart in Charts, the tag names of the time-series data being plotted and the corresponding values are displayed. While this is a very useful feature, the information is displayed directly on top of the time-series data, which can sometimes obscure the data itself.

Although this can be avoided by moving the mouse pointer away from the chart, it does make the experience slightly less user-friendly.
Therefore, would it be possible to display the tag names in a way that minimizes overlap with the time-series data? We would appreciate it if you could look into this.

Hi @Shun Takase , thank you for the clear write up and the screenshot, it makes the issue easy to see.

If I understand correctly, when several time series sit close together, the tag name labels land on top of the lines and hide the data you are trying to read.

I can’t say yet whether or when this will change, but we will share an update here if there is something to report. To help us understand it better: how many time series are you typically plotting when this happens, and would you prefer the names to sit outside the plot area, or to be something you can switch on and off?

Thanks again for taking the time to share this
