Cognite Remote: 3D-planning tool

Hi experts, 

We are working with planning the layout of a factory site. Specifically, we have a photogrammetry model of an empty property, and we want to position many standard containers on the property. Ideally, what we need is a computer program where we could upload the photogrammetry model, and then drag and drop 3D-models/cubes onto the map and then click and drag to position them.

I struggle to find a good tool for this. Cognite Remote have some capabilities for this, but the click and drag functionality would be highly appreciated.

Anyone know any good tools they would recommend for this?

Hi Simen,

Thanks for thinking about Remote in the context of a 3D digital twin that would power site planning. We also feel this is great use case for Remote and we have been thinking about this for some time. Our 2022 focus is on giving users a better understanding of visual data, especially in the context of maintenance and inspections, plus understanding visual data captured by drones. This feature will be on our 2023 roadmap, but we cannot commit to when in 2023 we would deploy this.

Well, we do have a first iteration of simple 3D cuboid markups in our application. They can be clicked and dragged, rotated and resized and stretched when in edit mode. But yeah, it will be much more useful when we implement drag’n drop of predefined geometry.

Hi @simenri. Note that this type of functionality can be implemented a custom application built on Reveal (https://cognitedata.github.io/reveal-docs/docs/). Feel free to reach out if you want to have a discussion about how to do this.

This is only available when you are in plan mode, and if you have a work order attached to an asset. After this is created you can also visualize it in explore mode,
