Asset Tree view - FLOCs Need an Order

When you open the tree view under an asset, the FLOC are in a random order which makes it nearly impossible to find what you want. I also noticed that not all FLOCs are showing up in the tree view. Are you limiting it to a certain number of FLOCs that show?

Hi @n989 !
Thanks for sharing feedback.

Looking at the Tree view, you can select to sort on any columns/properties, like for instance on Name as in shared recording here,

We have not sorted this list by default to avoid another operation on the data before it is presented (making it faster), but we will consider your input to make it sorted alphabetically by default! I’ll leave this request open for gathering interest.

We do have a limit on how many FLOCs get loaded when in Tree view. We fetch the first 25 root Assets/FLOCs. If there are more root Assets/FLOCs, a "Show more" button will be displayed for fetching additional up to 25, and so on.

The children of root Assets/FLOCs are fetched when expanding the parent/root assets, and here, the limit is 1000. Do you have FLOCs with more than 1000 direct children?

I see the show more option now. Thank you for clarifying! This should work. If we can default the sort to the “name” without bogging the system down, that will eliminate some confusion by the end users. For now, doing it myself will work.

Glad to hear, @n989 !
We’ll continue to monitor for more feedback on default ordering.

Hi @n989 !
We spent some time testing and evaluating the performance and have decided to release the default sort on name when in Tree view. Let me know how it works for you! I'm especially interested in whether you are experiencing any performance issues with this additional sort happening by default.

I actually noticed the change this morning! Love this. Everything seems to be working the same as it was prior tothe change, so no complaints here. Still getting very weird(inaccurate) results when searching or filtering on the tree view (no matter what the sort order is), but there is another hub ticket in for that.

Super! Happy to hear the ordering is working as expected!

When it comes to search relevancy/ordering of results, this is a different question indeed - but also a high priority to improve by our teams.
