Embarking on the Cognite Journey

Hello everyone 👋

My name is Nadir, and I’m excited to join the Cognite Academy community! I’ve recently embarked on this learning journey with Cognite to help bridge the gap between OT/IIoT data on the factory floor and actionable insights that drive real value.

A little about me:

Education & Background
I hold a strong foundation in both engineering and business-analysis disciplines, combining electronics engineering experience with business-analysis acumen. Over the years I’ve developed expertise in MES, SCADA, controllers, and manufacturing systems integration.

Professional Experience

• I’ve worked on delivering operator view screens in platforms such as Ignition by Inductive Automation, integrating data sources like real-time mezzanine systems and GenAI fault-detection systems, and creating dashboards for manufacturing floor visibility and KPI tracking.

• I’ve been involved in building Connected Worker applications on tablets (e.g., Samsung Galaxy) to give floor staff intuitive access to equipment hierarchies (Department→Team→Equipment) and associated data (Work Requests, Work Orders, BOMs, PI tags, drawings, etc.).

• I’m also working on data extraction from MES (for example SparkMES OEE) into Azure SQL, transforming into star schema models, and building dashboards in Tableau for trending, Pareto analysis of OEE, scrap, downtime reasons, and resource monitoring (water, air, gases, electricity, steam — WAGES)

By engaging with the Cognite Academy and this community, I aim to broaden my understanding of Cognite’s platform capabilities, best practices for ingestion/curation of OT/IIoT data, data model design within Cognite, and how to derive meaningful insights and workflows for manufacturing customers. I’m eager to learn from this community, share my experiences, collaborate on solutions, and ultimately help our customers transform raw floor-data into operational excellence.
