The Charts on CDF allow users to set up Alerts and Notifications to email a desired set of users about any breaches in Timeseries data based on a set threshold. Once a defined threshold is hit, the subscribed users will be notified via email about the abnormality. More information about the email triggering mechanism is explained here.
This how to guide explains the two ways in which a user can unsubscribe from these alerts if they are not an intended recipient.
Unsubscribing alerts through the Email Notification
The user can directly unsubscribe using the Email notification they are subscribed to. At the bottom of the email notification, the user should be able to see an Unsubscribe link. By clicking this, the intended user will be redirected to CDF and the subscription will be removed.
The following snapshot shows a sample notification email received for a breach of a set threshold. Clicking on the Unsubscribe link will redirect the user to CDF to complete the action.
Once the notification is unsubscribed, the user will be able to see a successful message as shown below.
Unsubscribing alerts from the CDF UI
- Sign In to Cognite Data Fusion.
- Navigate to Industrial Tools → Charts.
- Find the relevant Public Chart that you are subscribed to currently.
- On the side panel, click on ‘Monitoring’.
- Find the relevant Monitoring Job and click on Unsubscribe (bell icon).
The snapshot below shows the relevant UI element to complete the action.
Summary: The Charts related Monitoring alerts can be unsubscribed to in 2 ways; firstly, the user can directly unsubscribe from the notification email. Secondly, the user can choose to unsubscribe using the CDF UI by locating relevant monitoring job.
Notes:
- Monitoring Jobs can only be added to Public Charts as Private Charts are only scoped to their owners. To add a subscriber to Monitoring, the Private Chart needs to be first made Public.
- Currently, the Monitoring Jobs/Alerting tasks cannot be actioned via the Cognite APIs or the Cognite Python SDK.
