Initial 3 Questions

Forum|alt.badge.img+2

Hello! I have 3 quick questions that come to mind:

From your perspective, what is the 1 sentence value statement of CDF?

How can we justify all the manual work required to prepare the data to ingest into the platform?

How do our customers save money by using CDF?

Hi Derek! Here is my attempt at answering your questions:

  1. CDF makes it easy for subject matter experts to access and understand complex industrial data from a diverse set of IT/OT/ET sources.
  2. One of the benefits of CDF is that it comes with a large and growing set of extractors (such as for OPC-UA, PI, SAP+++) and tooling for transformations and data enrichment or contextualization on ingest, making it easier to onboard data than for any other solution I’ve encountered. So there isn’t that much manual work. But there is some, so see the next answer as well.
  3. End user use-cases typically revolve around asset performance management, reducing turnaround time, executing field operations faster and doing faster root cause analysis or in performance optimization, such as using OT+deferments data to run an oil field more optimally to increase overall output by 1%. Also, we see that they get results from their investment far faster than with DIY projects.

Do reach out if you have more follow-up questions to these answers!

Hi Derek. Some of these answers might be different from customer persona, the customer themselves and the industry they operate in. So please reach out to me if I can help with further details:

  1. I will eco my college @Geir Engdahl - getting access to complex industrial operational data for every user persona in an easy consumable and scalable way - might be the one sentence value statement.
  2. I would like to know a bit more the background for your 2nd question, but as @Geir Engdahl states above, Cognite has and will continue to invest in easy to deploy out of the box extractor to make the data onboarding process as easy as possible. I would also like to add that Cognite build these extractors with the intent to continuously feed data (not a one time data dump) so the users always can trust that they are working on fresh quality data.
  3. Great question, again this will depend on type of company and industry. If we group this into 3 main themes (1) Safety & Sustainability, (2) Reduce cost and (3) Increase revenue. Increase production capacity by identify and eliminate production bottlenecks. Identify and fix equipment before a failure impacts operation. Record, report and reduce CO2 emissions hits both increased revenue and reduced cost.

I am more than happy to discuss this in more details with you.
