Today, we are excited to announce a new release of Cognite InField 🚀

Working in checklists without internet connectivity

A key challenge in the field is robust internet connectivity. Unstable connectivity can hamper real-time communication, data collection and navigation, on top of an already hectic working environment. Although there are efforts to address these challenges, such as building out 5G networks, these efforts take time to implement and there will always be non-expected dead spots impacting daily operations in the field.

In this release we are happy to bring you support for working with checklists without internet connectivity, which allows users to continue completing their checklist offline when connectivity is lost. Once your connectivity is back, we’ll let you know and the data will be uploaded to Cognite Data Fusion. The only thing we require is that you are working in a checklist when the connectivity is lost. If that’s not the case, move to an area with connectivity, open your checklist, and continue your work.

Task descriptions on tasks

As a Template builder you can now choose to add a task description, allowing you to include for instance detailed step-by-step instructions to how the task should be performed if needed. This field will only be visible in the checklist if a description is added.

Sytem data models

InField has now migrated to a system data model for the data created by users through the application. This means that changes done in the data model, as the application continues to be developed, will be automatically reflected in all Cognite Data Fusion projects. This needed update also allow us to focus our efforts on more end-user facing enhancements going forward, so stay tuned for new updates very soon

We hope this release finds you well and we are looking forward to your feedback 😀

Great update! How long can the application remain in offline mode before the internet is back? Is there a limitation?
