The December release added tabs for directly & indirectly linked data. I am having trouble finding documentation that explains the difference between the two.

Directly linked data refers to data that is explicitly connected or associated with another data entity through a defined relationship. This means there is a direct connection or link between the two data points, often established through identifiers or keys.

Indirectly linked data, on the other hand, involves connections that are not explicitly defined but can be inferred through intermediary data points or relationships. This means that while there is no direct link between the two data entities, they can be connected through a series of other linked data points.

For example, in a data model, an asset might be directly linked to a sensor through a direct relationship. However, if the sensor is linked to a time series, and the time series is linked to a data set, the asset and the data set are indirectly linked through the sensor and time series.

Thank you for your detailed explanation, Jan! I noticed sometimes an object is in both the directly & indirectly linked tabs. How do you make sense of that?

Hi!
An object can be directly and indirectly linked based on your project’s contextualization. For example, you can have a relationship to the object (directly linked) and see a connection through the asset subtree (indirectly linked).
