The filtering capabilities needs multiple upgrades. Here are a few items below:

  1. Add a “Contains” option OR a select all button (which would work like contains, where when you type in the word you want filtered, you can then checkmark all items that appear)
  2. Slicers - add ability to drop column filters above the search results, so you have quick access to change results. This is hugely valuable and very common among similar applications
  3. Filters mess up tree view. If you try to search or apply filters in tree view, it does not give you the correct results. Example: If I filter by unit, it only shows me a fraction of the assets with that unit tag in the tree view.

Hi @n989

Thanks for these suggestions!

  1. Based on your and others’ input, we have moved forward on a select all button. I’ll check in again once it is available!
  2. The need for slicers/column filters above the search results - is this mainly for speed/ease of use?
  3. That one is interesting! We will look into the behaviour.

Glad to hear on the select all.

For the slicer, yes this is critical for user adoption. We’ve already had a lot of feedback on how many steps are required to filter the same column data. There are always one or two fields for each category that users want to quickly change the filtered field. If you can drag/mark the column to the top as a “Slicer” that would ease a lot of the pain of clearing the filter, then having to go back into the filter to apply a new filter to another field in that same column. It’s key to remember that a lot of our users aren’t extremely tech savvy, so it may seem easy to you and me to clear the filter and re-apply, but it’s not always the case for them.

This was also discussed in a meeting back in March/April with the search team(we thought it was part of the 2Q upgrade).

Thank you for adding more details. I have owned Search for some time, and slicer has not been on our roadmap. I will keep this as gathering interest and schedule in time for some discovery and design work on this.

Thank you again!
