On behalf of Celanese super users:

I would like the ability to save layouts/templates for common filters that I use when searching for data in CDF. Currently, every time I use CDF,  need to apply similar filters in order to focus my data search, such as dataset and/or additional metadata filters. If I was able to utilize user defined layouts this would make the user experience more streamlined and approachable.

We have discussed this internally and agreed that this is of High Priority to Celanese.

Hi @rsiddha and @crgomez13

Functionality to let end users define filters and save them for quick access is estimated in H2 this year.

Hi @rsiddha and @crgomez13  - as of the release tomorrow, June 4th, we support creating saved filters. The saved filters will be created as part of configuration of Search, and then be available for all users of the project.

Once created, you will find them as “Saved filters” in the filter option. These filters can be simple (one criteria) or more complex logic with combination of AND/OR operator between several criteria.

Hi @rsiddha and @crgomez13

Following up on this request – have you had a chance to explore creating saved/preset filters? If so, I'd be keen to hear about your experience and whether you find them valuable.

We're currently finalizing an alternative approach: the ability for project admins to configure default filters (including ordering). We'd appreciate your feedback on whether this solution would meet your needs, as it differs from allowing individual saved filters.

I'll share a how-to guide in early June once we've completed the search settings feature, which will enable project admins to select and order the properties available as filters.

Best,

Sofie

Hi @Sofie Svartdal Berge

I am very interested in preset filters. This is because currently, the settings for saved filters cannot be configured by us users and need to be requested from Cognite, making it somewhat inconvenient to use. Therefore, having a feature that allows users to create preset filters would be very desirable.

This is a much wanted feature, but I cannot see a way of saving my filters in the fusion gui.

Is this a feature I need to activate in my environment?

@Shun Takase fully understand, and agree - we need to work on enabling the creation of saved filters for individual users too! Our first test of the concept has proven that this functionality is valuable. We have a backlog item on this, and I aim to work on technical designs on this during the fall.

@Øystein Aspøy configuration of Saved filters is not exposed in the product, but a configuration that today can only be done by a Cogniter (your Cognite contact point) with a project config file, which also means these saved/preset filters become available for all users. A feature to enable individual users to define such saved filters themselves (and for themselves).
