Cognite CDF: PowerBi Live and Real Time Connector (CRITICAL)

Cognite need to make the following changes for a near real time refresh,

Need an API key from Cognite Data Fusion and they must set up the required permissions/configurations for our account.

Required CDF API’s endpoint to RAW source to get real time Data 

After all required configurations by CDF is completed, PowerBI can connect to CDF real time data.

We have added this product idea to our long term roadmap. Due to our current set of product priorities, this specific idea has a current target for early access availability towards the end of 2H2024.

For the Time Series resource, the following HowTo document by Everton may help address most of the aspects of the PowerBI ask in this product idea:

Unfortunately, for 2024, we lack the capacity to extend the CDF/DM OData interface in support of incremental data delivery, plus building and shepherding a new PowerBI connector through the MS certification process.

So it is parked for now, as the team has a number of other initiatives we’re working on.

Is there any scope to pick this up in 2025? We have a use case where we want to visualize time series data in PowerBI based on user selection. Since we want to pull only relevant time series data points on demand, I believe DirectQuery could help us achieve this.

​@Anita Hæhre, there is still interest from SLB for this feature. The use case is the ability to query timeseries data ad hoc, so we pull information based on user select because querying all timeseries at refresh time is not feasible.
