For a good User Experience, in general, a Cognite Specific Icon should serve the same purpose in all Cognite programs.  Navigation and functionality should be similar across modules.  Cognite should adopt a consistent philosophy in how you manage this and converge all of your applications for consistency:
1) When you search for MBD1070, CDF finds MBD-1070, but Maintain does not find any asset.
2) In CDF, when you pan to another asset in the 3D model and single click , you can select the next asset over (MBD-1270) and open the meta data.  In Maintain, if you select another asset you highlight the shape only.  You do not get any data or even identification of the asset.
3) When you select an integrated asset (PW-424-A) in CDF you get a section of pipe and 6 valves.  In Maintain, you are able to select and highlight a single valve or shape.
4) Maintain has no access to photogrammetry or laser scans as layers in the 3Dmodel.
5) You are able to take measurements in both Maintain and CDF modules, but the measuring tools in CDF are much more robust (polylines, polygons, areas, volumes).  Maintain has straight line distance only.  In CDF you can change the units from metric to English, in Maintain distance is in mm only.
6) CDF allows slicing in all three planes. Maintain allows slicing in the vertical plane only.
7) In canvas, if you add a 3D view, you cannot use any of the 3Dmodelling tools, such as measurements.
8) The icon for adding layers in CDF search changes the marker legend in Maintain
9) An icon with a question mark in CDF shows Navigation guidance, while an exclamation point shows the same information in Maintain.

Hi and thank you for these product enhancement requests @Wrzyszczynski.

I’ve tagged the Product Manager responsible for Maintain as the primary PM to follow up on this post. They should use it to communicate status for the idea and potentially contact you here or directly to gather any additional information they feel is pertinent.

Hi Mark, @Wrzyszczynski

Thanks for reaching out with this, and we agree!

You will notice, step-by-step going forward, a more unified experience across our user surfaces. For Maintain specifically we are starting with the 2D experience in the first part of next year (integrating IC with Maintain canvas viewer), and the 3D experience is next in line after that. As part of these improvements Maintain will also come into industrial tools under the Fusion url giving user access to the same search experience as in Fusion.

It does potentially sound like you are also encountering some data configuration issues in that we might be able to resolve more short term.

You wanna meet up with @Ragnhild Byrkjeland (3D PM) and myself to review the list of things? Would love to hear you perspectives as we move towards a more unified experience.

Hi Mark,

Thank you for your great feedback!

As Marius mentioned above, we recognize the issues you're pointing out and have plans to address them in Q1 and Q2 next year. For 3D, this initiative is part of what we call the Unified 3D Experiences. It includes a widget that works consistently across all applications within the Industrial Tools workspace that utilize 3D as a source. This improvement should also enhance the 3D in Canvas experience.

Furthermore, all tools leveraging 3D will support a full-screen 3D view while maintaining context from where you launched it. For instance, if you open 3D from Search, you’ll retain your list of search results, or if you’re coming from Maintain, you’ll still have access to your work orders (on the left side). Despite the different entry points, the 3D view will provide consistent tooling and icon usage across applications.

We would also be happy to meet up, showcase our prototypes, and gather your feedback to ensure our solutions effectively address the issues you've described.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Ragnhild
