Feature request : We need to enhance the  existing cognite sharepoint extractor  by incorporating the capability to seamlessly integrate with SharePoint lists. This extension should support the integration of CRUD operations to facilitate efficient and comprehensive data management from the SharePoint environment to CDF.

Hi @Harsha , thank you for reaching out regarding this enhancement request. We appreciate your feedback and would like to gain a deeper understanding of your requirements.

Just to clarify, while we don't have a dedicated SharePoint extractor, our File extractor does have the capability to connect to various source systems, including SharePoint.

Regarding your request for CRUD operations, specifically the ability to Create, Read, Update, and Delete data, are you also expecting writeback functionality from CDF to SharePoint?

Understanding your expectations regarding writeback functionality is crucial for us to assess the feasibility of implementing this feature. If you could provide an example of how you envision the workflow that would be very valuable for us.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Best regards

Elka

@Harsha

As the PM for the Extractors program, I have a couple of questions about your solution description;

  • What is the purpose of the CRUD operation support? Are you wanting the extractor to be a full-fledged sync’er between CDF and MS SharePoint?
  • Rather than explicitly asking for support for the SharePoint REST API _api/web/lists* endpoints, can you describe the underlying business or integration problem you believe supporting the lists endpoint will solve when onboarding data to CDF?

@Harsha - Ping? ^^^

With the suite of upcoming changes to how CDF manages extractors, along with the DM support needs we’re working on, this item is a bit on the back-burner ATM. Will park for a few months an revisit when more activity is recorded.
