Cognite Charts: View DataSheets in addition to P&ID

It would be really helpful in Cognite Charts to incorporate DataSheet viewing quickly by right clicking a transmitter on the P&ID or from a Tag. In Charts, there is a P&ID view but if you can add DataSheet also, will be really helpful.

@ibrahim.alsyed although the buttons in charts say “P&ID” we are actually displaying all related files to a particular asset / equipment tag. Meaning, all DataSheets, images, P&IDs, and any other type of document that is stored in CDF as a file and connected to that asset will show up in the list.

Obviously, there are improvements that we want and need to make – namely adding filtering capabilities so you can narrow down your search for the relevant file, in the case there are many pertaining to a particular asset.

I like your suggestion about being able to traverse documents connected to tags found within a particular document. Since we’re using a shared component for this document visualization that is built by another team, I’ll relay this feedback to my colleagues.

@Brendan Buckbee can you please check this and share your view on how we would like to see datasheets in Charts?

Hi @ibrahim.alsyed,

I apologize – I realize that I was mistaken in my original message in this thread. For the time being, we only support PDF and SVG file formats in the Charts file viewer.

However, we are in the process of updating this component to one that will be used across Cognite Data Fusion, to provide a unified file viewing experience. While the first iteration will prioritize supporting image files (PDF, JPG, SVG, etc.), viewing CSV and other spreadsheet formats are expected to be within reach in the short term. @Milad Mobarhan is the right Cogniter to share more information or specifics.

On that note – how valuable is it to be able to interact with the sheet, like you would in Excel? For instance, being able to change the sorting of columns, search within the sheet, view comments etc.

It is very valuable as you would like to do RCA and analysis in one place.

It would also be helpful if documents organized by Document Type on the left panel, similar to how Infield groups documents by type.
