I have tried again now to search file name ‘ELECTRICAL SAFETY RULES.docx’ in search bar but search option is not working in preview of file.

Hi,

We have raised this issue long ago, but still we are facing the issue, Please help us resolve this asap.
Search option is not working in non-pdf document at CDF for Documentum.

Steps to reproduce the issue:

1. Login to CDF

2. Click on Data Explorer tab in CDF menu bar.

3. Click on Files tab in right side of the panel.

4. Set Data set as ‘src:006:documentum:b60:ds’ under Common filters in left side of the screen.

5. Enter the file name ‘ELECTRICAL SAFETY RULES.docx’ in search bar.

6. Click to open the file.

Expected results: User should be able to see the preview of file and search the any word inside the document.

Actual results: Search option is not working in preview of file and displaying message ‘this document is not searchable.’

Hi,

Sorry for the late follow-up. Data Explorer requires the following for text search (via CTRL/CMD+F) to work:

1. The document has to be run through the Diagram parsing pipeline.
2. In order to do the above, the file type has to be one of: PDF, JPEG, PNG or TIFF.

This likely explains why you’re not able to do text search in Data Explorer. As Data Explorer is in the process of being replaced by Search, this limitation will likely only be handled in the latter.

If this issue is a blocker, one temporary option could be to convert the documents to PDF, ingest those into CDF, and run them through the Diagram Parsing pipelines.
