In the chart area in Cognite Charts, it would be beneficial to lock the ruler in place on the screen, cause I often have to switch windows and write down say inside excel. and I want to copy values from charts, now i do that through taking a printscreen but it is quite cumbersome to open mspaint to copy it in, and find the window and the values inside the printscreend browser-window. could be expanded to be able to add in multiple rulers. such that the rules with numerical values stay on the screen even if I change windows and move the mouse away from the charting area. It would even be nice, if with a button the values along the ruler could be store to clipboard as text string such that they can be copyed straight into a say excel spreadsheet or into any text-document.
Example document from the pdf preview in fusion. There is a rotate symbol, but the rotate symbol does not rotate the image, but it resets the view to “fit to full page”. How do I rotate the documents previewed? or do i need to download it and do it an do it in a native app? And if not so, can rotation functionality in the document viewer? and maybe change to icon of the rotate symbol and also maybe remember the rotation of the page in the viewer aswell? cause there are often documents and diagrams combind in a single pdf file?
When ever i search and look around for anything with Fusion UI. i often have go alot of backwards and forwards, and it is not really a good experience. and it would be alot more efficient for me to be able to open resource types in another browser window. there are so many places where this would be very helpfull in the Fusion UI. examples are: finding files connected to an assett and wanting to look at them all one by one. you just want to open up a new tab in you browser for the files you want to look at. but you have to go so much back and forth with the current UI/UX in Fusion web UI. so whenever there is any CDF resourcce type in the Fusion UI I should be able to left click and “open in a new tab”. I’ve added to screenshots from the UI where I have leftclicked, and the “leftclick dropdown meny” does not show “open link in a new tab”. Hope this is an easy fix :)
in the url of a shared chart we should be able to set start and end timestamps. and also relative timestamps, like: https://{project}.fusion.cognite.com/{project}/charts/056489-75fa-445a-bd39-215sf0453158?cluster=api.cognitedata.com&from=1d-ago&to=nowor be able to parametrize in many waysfrom=today-at-0600&to=nowfrom=20230301:06:00&to=20230302:06:00And be able to choose these parameters from the share chart dropdown in the chart.
In this conversation I will explain / help how to access the data from the Open Industrial Data Project (OID) CDF Project, through the Cognite Python SDK, with authentication through an interactive login token from Cognite Hub’s Azure Active Directory. The video in the article will step by step show you how you can get access to the data, and also link to the relevant information you will need. Steps:1. Install or update the following python modules/librariespip install cognite-sdkpip install msalpip install pandas2. Download the publicdata.py file and store it in your python environments working directory. this file is prefilled with the OIDC ID’s and CDF project values needed to access the CDF project.3. Open a Jupyter Notebook or python file and import the publicdata.pyfrom publicdata import c4. Access the OID CDF project through the CogniteClient object: c, and when the first method is called on the CogniteClient object it will authenticate and redirect towards the AAD tenant and u
the file name of downloaded files is a bit non-intuitive string containing the External ID++ Could this be changed such that it is easier to figure out what it is. best would possibly be the concatenation of original-filename and file descriptions in the filename when it is downloaded, to the extent that is possible :) then the files downloaded is very intuitive for the downloadee in their downloads directory :)
One thing that would make the finding of the correct data is to label the CDF resources better with labels. https://docs.cognite.com/dev/concepts/resource_types/labels In the contextualization pipeline could things be automatically labeled such as:Document type: P&ID, PDF(Process Flow Diagram), loop diagrams, datasheets, single line. that theses documents are either labeled from the metadata. document ID schema (regex will do it) or from classification algorithm the file, and then gives it a label to the file. that we can see from the label on the resource what it is.The same is for Asset: Is it a Junction box, Transmitter, Skid, Pump, Motor, valve etc etc. Time series: is it a physical measurement, is an inference / calculation / “soft-tag”, is a parameter (like the gain or integration time on PID controller) this could be determent by simple analyzing of the data-point behavior of the time series. cause now when we search for a time series often a time series of a parameter that
I would love to have a button that just moves the chart to datetime.now(). cause I’m often struggling to choose a new time segment, especially when the time span spans a month change.
We can chose color, weight, type and linear/step. but often there are alot of trends we want in the backgrond, so can we add a alpha (0.0 to 1.0) / transperancy of the trends aswell? to be able to have information in the background without clouding over the most essential trends. Should be a quickfix :)
Can the default option be that the week start on a Monday, or maybe give the user the ability to say what day is the first day of the week? This probably varies in different parts of the world. Where I work and live and do things; Monday is always the first day of the week :).
In infield, there should be a button where we could request missing Cognite resources, such as connected timeseries, Document/document-type (Files) and assets close by in the hirearchy. Such as this tag is missing its P&ID or instrument loop diagram. Such that the contextualization algorithms can prioritize better. As well as beeing able to manually set a resource relevant for the asset we are on.
Have arrow buttons where we can jump backwards and forwards in time. so say 2day span is selected. but have a button where this jumps back 2days or forward.
It would be nice to insert additional default color pallet, based on the colors the company uses, as the first couple of default colors. and not just the default #RGB colors. just a place to push inn a list of HEX colors, and this then becomes the default color sequence for the user or the projects charts instance. But the color pallet should be changeable pr project basis, and that you could also have a custom color pallet aswell, based on user prefrernce. Additionally if we could also get a alpha / transparency factor aswell, that would be very nice :)
