I have done the Grafana setup from azure managed grafana from azure portal. But don’t have permission to install cognite data fusion in grafana from azure. Please let me know how to install plugin and what permission needed.

Hello,
I presume you have followed the directions here: https://docs.cognite.com/cdf/dashboards/guides/grafana/admin_oidc

If you want user level authentication delegation, your Azure Active Directory (AAD) Administrator will need to provide the appropriate approval.    It will be the same person that provided you the Client Id and Client Secret for grafana setup.

If you want to use Client Credentials, you can follow instructions here: https://docs.cognite.com/cdf/dashboards/guides/grafana/admin_oidc#set-up-a-client-credentials-grant-flow, but you will still need an client id and secret that has permissions to read from your CDF project.

Hope this helps,
Jason

Azure Managed grafana does not include the Cognite Data Fusion data source. It only has a limited set of data sournce plugins which has been whitelisted by Microsoft.

We have requested to get the CDF data source whitelisted, but it has not yet been done by Microsoft.

If you want to try out grafana you could also try the free tier at grafana.com which many of our customers are using.

We haven’t tested that Azure application. Is the cognite datasource available there or not?

Hi @Murad Sæter. Just wanted to inquire whether you have had any progress in the dialogue with Microsoft to have the CDF data source whitelisted for Azure Managed Grafana.

Azure Managed Grafana is our prefered Grafana solution, and it would be really useful to us to have the CDF datasource available there.

Microsoft is in dialogue with Grafana, but there is nothing to test now. We are following up with Microsoft regularly and the currently we have been told is Q1 2024, but it’s just an estimate and not committed to.
