Team - is there a way to generate a calculation in Cognite charts where you’re comparing data from the current timestamp value to something several minutes prior (say 30 minutes)? Any assistance on this would be welcome!

Hi, Richard.

This can be done using the function “Shift time series”.

To create a new time series with 30 minutes shifted back in time, use the parameters below. Positive numbers shift forwards, and negative numbers shifts time backwards.

You can then compare the time series visually, or use the new time shifted one as input to a calculation.

hi @rmaidla ,

I  like your request to compare the current with the previous time series and it made me curious about how are you going to use this functionality 🙂 calculating the rate of change of a parameter, other?

@Knut Vidvei I see that this function requires a unit of time. what if I would like to compare just numeric values? we are using charts to trend the number of findings from visual drone inspections and it would be great to get notified when the number of corrosion findings from the current inspection is greater than the previous one. Possible? thx :)

@Aleksandra Knödlseder - we actually use this for pressure leak or tests regularly.

another thing that would be very beneficial for us is to define a point in time as a “normal state” for calculation. We typically use this normalization for monitoring our SRU membrane from the moment we change the membrane. Once we start deviating from this “normalized” state, it’s an indication we might need to change the membrane
