Hi everyone,

We have great news for you. Our team was working hard to make this happen for this release. We have created a smooth integration and transition between Industrial Canvas and Charts.

From now on you can bring your charts to your canvases. You can do it in 2 ways:

  1. While in Industrial Canvas, click 'Add data' to open the resource selector and select 'Charts' tab as the fifth option from the tabs. Here you can filter and search your charts, select the ones you want in your canvas like any other data type and shazam! your charts appear in your canvas.

  2. While navigating through Charts, select your favorite chart and click the 'Actions' button, then locate Industrial Canvas beneath 'Open In' section. Follow the steps by selecting one of your existing canvases or initiate a new one to add your chart to.

With this feature you can fully interact with your Charts from the Industrial Canvas:

  • You can update axis ranges
  • Slide left or right to update time window
  • Use shift to select a specific range from over the chart
  • Or just use our advanced date selector
  • Visualize set thresholds and events

Now you can add multiple charts to a canvas or even add the same charts multiple times to ease your comparison efforts. All the updates that you are making in Charts, such as displaying events or add new calculations, will be reflected in Canvas as well, by refreshing the page.

Please try out and share your feedback with us.

We are constantly looking for improvements and your feedback are invaluable to us to bring more features and better experiences.

Best.

This looks good @Mustafa Ilker Sarac

I was going through the Cognite Charts and Canvas modules in Cognite Academy and thought to share feedback I had:

Cognite Charts:

  1. When we add a function node for performing a calculation, say multiplication, I found that the inputs to it can only be two time series.( or constants). If I’m interested doing the same operation with multiple timeseries then I need to making a chain of operators which make the canvas clumsy. Question is, is it possible to a) have multiple inputs to a node  b) Perform custom calculation in a node ( without adding it as an algorithm in Industrial Data Science Library) using these multiple inputs
  2. Standardising canvas json format. Recently Obsdian (notemaking tool) team released a file type called JSON Canvas which can potentially enable interoperbility between different canvas makers. Any plans in the future to align the json file structure compatible with JSON Canvas so that such files can be imported to Cognite Charts.

Cognite Insdustrial Canvas:

In the videos I have seen, two nodes in the canvas cannot be linked with each other ( unlike how connect in canvas in Cognite Charts).

I think it would make sense for a user to be able to create and connect different nodes within industrial canvas. This would mean tranferring  some of the features of cognite charts here as well (or even merge these two ?)

Also, just like adding different shapes and sticky notes, we could add timeseries data ( as streams) to the canvas and attach to it different attributes if needed.

This way it would look like  the flowsheeting canvas that Aspen HYSYS provides and allow us to do some basic operations  in it
