Cognite Charts: Allow users to define calculation templates

It would save the user time if it was possible to store a calculation setup as a template. There could be a calculation template library (public and private) that we could select from within the calculation node editor. Perhaps a particular equation that involves five TSs, 5 different Charts functions, and 8 constants, and not having to build this from scratch every time would be very useful. One could duplicate an existing Chart, but this is not addressing the root cause. I think a Calculation Library could be useful.

Hi, Anders!

Thank you for this idea, and we do have a solution that helps you in this matter.

If you have a chart with some calculations you don’t want to rebuild again every time, you can download the calculations to a (json) file, and store it as a template on your computer. These files can also be shared with your co-workers.

Here is a video showing downloading a template in one chart:

And adding them again in a new chart using this button, and adding the template (json) file:

We also have concrete ideas to be able to do this inside the application, as you describe.

What are some examples of calculation graphs that you would like to templatize?

Best regards, Knut
