Ability to Trend and Visualize InField Checklist Item History

Submitted on behalf of Celanese Learning Facilitators (Kenny, Kyle, Rudy, and Hud):

As a Learning Facilitator or process expert, I want to be able to trend line items from my InField checklist rather than have to rely on tags so that I can see what the past values for that specific checklist item have been. InField will only visualize tags with a hyperlink, but some checklist items don’t contain tags. There is no way to see the history on it without having to go back to completed/archived electronic checklists. The Learning Facilitator said, “At that point, I'd rather just go back to using paper than having to check each individual archived checklist.”

Hi @Marcela Young - thanks for the feedback!

When you are saying “past values from that specific checklist items”, then you are referring to checklist items with measurement readings I assume? So instead of going to the tag overview page and click on the trend, you want the trend (historic values) directly accessible from the checklist?

Thanks!

@Kristoffer Knudsen not just measurement readings, it would be nice to see the history of inputs for ANY checklist item regardless of whether it is a numerical reading, in/out/up, or OK/Not OK.

The idea also includes the ability to see trends even for items that don’t have an equipment or asset linked in CDF (does not have a blue hyperlink)

Thanks @Marcela Young, understood!

We have another use case for maintenance - to be able to trend back on specific line items even if they don’t have numerical measurements. Is there a plan for this to come soon? Ex. the Maintenance manager wants to click on a line item and determine how often it is “Ok” vs. “Not Ok”.

I agree, the ability to trend numerical and non-numerical is important. Lets make it happen.

@Kristoffer Knudsen this is now possible with 2.0 and FDM correct? Pulling this into PowerBI. Should this item be updated to reflect this?

Hi @Marcela Young ,

You are correct - the underlying data from InField is now available in FDM and can be surfaced in tools like PBI.

In addition to having the data available to be consufed in e.g. PBI, items like the past trend value we also want to show directly in the InField checklist (ref. this post:

). For the items, e.g. past “ok, not ok, etc.”, I don’t think it make sense to surface these in the checklist itself as I fear it will clutter the checklist experience in the field. However, we now have the desktop “Overview” page for the manager/supervisor/team captain where we will add more filtering to be able to answer the question like “Show me the last time this checklist contained items that was not ok”, etc.

@Kristoffer Knudsen and @Anita Hæhre I think we can close this since this is addressed with FDM and the PowerBI connector

Hi @Marcela Young ! Thanks for your feedback. Correct, this can be solved using FDM and e.g. PBI today.

However, we still want to support the use case above in the application so I’ll keep it open. We are discovering how to improve our “checklist review” flow, which would need to have a solution for looking at “log” (reading, check-item, etc.) history without an asset link.

We have discussed this internally with Ram and agree this is a high priority for Celanese.
