Cognite Data Fusion: Prevent Resetting of Hierarchy at the top

Related products: Search and Data Exploration

The asset hierarchy view in CDF needs a couple features to prevent excessive unnecessary scrolling:

  1. When I search for an asset then click ‘hierarchy’, the hierarchy should jump to where the actual asset is.  Right now, it always starts at the top and I need to scroll down to find it.
  2. The hierarchy should stay focused on what was viewed last until a new asset is clicked, as typical use involves studying multiple assets in a particular system, and needing to scroll back down to the appropriate place every time is annoying.

Hi Adam,

Sorry for the unpleasant scrolling.

The team is looking into solving this issue. Will let you know as soon as we have a solution in place.

Thanks,

Andreea.

Thank you, also, I just ran into a similar issue - while looking at files, when I click a file from the list on the left hand side of the screen, the list resets to the top of the list.  If I want to look at a few files one at a time, I need to scroll back down each time.  It would be nice if it stayed frozen in place.

Hi Adam,

We will look into this issue.

Thank you,
Andreea.

Hi Adam,

Happy to announce that the issues are solved. Please take a look and let us know if everything is as expected or you encounter other issues.

Thank you,
Andreea.

Thanks Andreea, the initial critique has been solved (thank you!), but I have another improvement suggestion in the same spirit as this one.

When I find an asset from the search bar and select the hierarchy tab, the hierarchy tab defaults to the top.  It would be nice if it jumped to the asset location within the hierarchy.  The same comment goes for searching for assets directly from the white or back search bars.

Hi Adam,

Thank you for the suggestion! Will look into it.

Best,
Andreea.

Hi Adam,

You last suggestion was improved a while ago, but I would like to make sure that it behaves as you expect.

Thanks,

Andreea.
