The steps in this post assume that you have access to an instance of Retool and Cognite Data Fusion. It also assumes basic knowledge of Cognite resource types like Assets and Events.A thing that customers of Cognite have realized is that it’s incredibly hard to predict today, which business processes and use cases you need to solve in the future, or even tomorrow (literally). Thus, one of the philosophies behind Cognite Data Fusion, is to enable a solid and flexible data foundation that makes building solutions and processes for new problems faster, and more scalable. One way of speeding up the building of new apps and workflows, is to make data readily available in open, well defined and performant APIs. This lets builders use a wide range of tools, and select the best tool for the task at hand. Here we’ll show how to build a simple mobile-friendly application with Retool and Cognite Data Fusion, to manually log production downtime events, and attach them to an Asset in Cognite Data Fus
In our continuous effort to provide you with a better user experience, we’re excited to share some important upgrades to our software applications, as recently announced in our release notes. As of December 31st, 2023, we will be retiring our legacy application, Asset Data Insight. We’re @Uzair Wali and @kelvin, Senior Data Scientist and Data Science Lead in Cognite’s Manufacturing delivery team. In this post we talk about the increasingly important ability to intuitively and flexibly query data from all steps of a product life cycle and across source systems, with examples we’ve implemented on Cognite Data Fusion together with our users. The need for traceabilityIn many manufacturing industries, the ability to trace a product through its manufacturing life cycle, whether internal or supply chain is extremely important. It entails the collection and management of information regarding what has been done in manufacturing processes, from the raw materials and parts used to the shipment of finished products. An industrial knowledge graph that enables this traceability has the potential to not only let users speed up or automate existing use cases, it also opens up possibilities for considerable value addition.Typical questions A customer complains about the quality o
