Cognite InField and Cognite Data Fusion: Ability to use QR code/barcode/NFC to search and identify tags

Related products: InField

In a lot of our plants, we have placed QR Codes or Bar Codes on equipments such as valves, pipes etc and we would like to scan them and open up the infield search page to get to the information. I reccomend having a mapping table maintained somewhere for QR Codes and Bar Codes.

Thank you. In your particular case, can you describe what is stored in the QR code? Is it a synthetic key that needs to be resolved to an asset identifier by lookup, or is the asset identifier directly encoded? If a lookup is needed, is this data that you already have available in a service, database or similar?

we would like to keep the QR Code Generic and have a lookup table stored and managed in CDF? that way QR Code can be generically replaced. As a start we can make the QR code directly identified on QR Code.

Thanks Ibrahim. This is certainly manageable - as long as the QR code gives us a unique key, and we have somewhere to map that key to the actual identifier(s) we want to use to connect the QR code to an asset, this would be feasible.

Does this mean if we store a table with QR Codes mapped to Asset? Maybe its part of the meta data thats stored that we can update in CDF and then use QR code to search in CDF, Remote and Infield. I would say RFID or NFC should follow the same principle.

This would be great to test or build. A QR Code scan button next to search would be helpful
